Abstract
This presentation is part of the Digital Humanities/Digital Academic beyond Humanities Panel at the USC Upstate Research Symposium.
I will present on the Holocaust Translation Project housed at USC Upstate. This interdisciplinary digital humanities project allows students to translate original historical artifacts from the Holocaust and make those accessible to a wider audience. My presentation will outline the learning outcomes for students as well as the overall goals and impacts of this digital humanities project.
This presentation includes specific teaching methods that help scaffolding prior to translating historical artifacts. Also, the audience will have a glimpse into the processes included in the translation process from client contact, scanning of documents, virtual group dynamics, archiving procedures, and publishing of translations. Finally, I will share data on student and client experiences as well as future considerations for this digital humanities project.
