Abstract

The goal of this research project is to assess the current dining options, what are student’s feelings towards the current options, and if students desire change, what changes are needed. The research participants attend a small Christian Liberal Arts University in South Carolina. The participants were contacted via email to be a part of an online survey. This was administered over two weeks in the Spring Semester 2024. As we strive to answer the questions above, we will analyze four main categories. These categories are the current state of dining options, dietary health, food insecurity, and dining satisfaction. The current state of dining options and dining satisfaction will investigate where the college campus is currently in terms of options available, service times, and how satisfied college students are with the food options. Dietary health and food insecurity will look at the current eating habits of college students, defining whether they are healthy and whether there is enough food available on their college campuses. Of particular concern is the location of the university. The location can make it difficult for students to access food options off campus without transportation. By analyzing these categories, a well-rounded understanding of where college students are currently in terms of eating diet, health, and dining satisfaction on the college campus can be developed. The researchers intend to use this information to provide recommendations to the university about students’ needs and desires. This will, in turn, allow the university to provide an additional way to improve students and parents perceptions of value.
