Abstract

Brochure/item list. This exhibition, mounted in the main mezzanine exhibition gallery, Thomas Cooper Library, July-December 2006, charts Blake's career as illustrator, artist and visionary poet chronologically, and includes many books with original Blake engravings (including books like Stedman's Narrative, Stuart's Antiquities of Athens, and Flaxman's Theogony, all in the college library in the early 19th century), examples of his illuminated books in the Trianon facsimiles, and recent acquisitions such as an original engraving from his illustrations to the Book of Job and a first edition of William Hayley's Triumphs of Temper..
