Abstract
Brochure/item list from a donor-recognition exhibition in the main mezzanine galley, Thomas Cooper Library, April-June 2006. In addition to showing selected plates from the South Carolina College set of the Audubon double-elephant folio Birds of America (1827-1838), the exhibition traces the development of bird illustration starting with European bird illustrations of the sixteenthcentury, looking at Audubon's immediate predecessors such as Catesby, Edwards, and Wilson, and concludes with Audubon's 19th century successors, including Gould and others. The exhibition honored Mrs. Davy-Jo Ridge, along with other donors including Jeanie Haddock Feagle, Mr.& Mrs.Frank J. Dana, and Mr.James P. Barrow.
