JIIA Impact Factor

The Journal Impact Factor (JIF) is a measure reflecting the average number of citations to articles published in journals, books, patent documents, thesis, project reports, newspapers, conference/ seminar proceedings, documents published on the Internet, notes, and any other approved documents. It measures the relative importance of a journal within its field, with journals of higher journal impact factors deemed to be more important than those with lower ones.

How the Impact Factor was Calculated:

The calculation is based on a two-year period and involves dividing the number of times articles were cited by the number of articles that are citable.

  1. A = the number of times articles published in 2023 and 2024 were cited by indexed journals in 2025.
  2. B = the total number of “citable items” published in 2023 and 2024.
  3. A/B = 2025 impact factor

Sample Calculation of 2025 5-year impact factor of a journal:

  1. A = the number of times articles published in 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024 were cited by indexed journals in 2025.
  2. B = the total number of “citable items” published in 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024.
  3. A/B = 2025 5-year impact factor
