Abstract

Single crystals of a series of lanthanide lithium iridium oxides, Ln₂LiIrO₆ (Ln=La, Pr, Nd, Sm, Eu) with the double perovskite structure have been grown from molten LiOH/KOH fluxes. The compounds crystallize in a distorted 1:1 rock salt lattice of Li⁺ and Ir⁵⁺ cations in the monoclinic space group P₂₁/n. The magnetic susceptibilities of Ln₂LiIrO₆ (Ln=Pr, Nd, Sm, Eu) are presented.
