The Student Bar Association Auxiliary was formed as the Law Federation Auxiliary at the University of South Carolina on November 17, 1958. The name was changed to the Student Bar Association Auxiliary via an amendment to the organization’s constitution in December 1964. Familiarly known as the USC Law Wives, the Auxiliary’s two main objectives were to prepare law wives to assume community responsibilities and to prepare them to assist their husbands. This collection consists of the Auxiliary’s 1967-1968 and 1973-1974 Annual Handbooks. The handbooks include a history of the Auxiliary, a copy of its constitution, a law school directory, and information about services and activities on the University of South Carolina campus. Original copies of these handbooks are available in the Law School Archives. For access to print copies of the handbooks and many other print and manuscript collections at the Law Library, contact library staff to make an appointment to use them.
