Abstract
Reviews the life and writing career of the Scottish poet and ornithologist Alexander Wilson, both in Scotland and, more briefly, after his emigration to the United States, discussing his relation to Robert Burns, his poem about Burns's portrait, and the evidence for the two men having met. A revised version of this article was published in the Burns Chronicle for 2019, pp. 86-101
