Abstract
This study will investigate different types of oboe gouging machines; describe the development of a newly-conceived product that uses routing machine technology; and compare the new machine to the other commercial gougers. The newly-conceived gouger described here uses spindle motors attached to router tips. Two spindle motors will be attached to a micrometric platform (z-axis). One motor will pre-gouge the piece of cane, and the other will gouge.
