Abstract
What follows is a first draft of my novel-in-progress, The Moneylender, which I submit in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing. This draft introduces the major themes I wish to explore with my novel, including family, magic, deafhood, and balikbayan life, and demonstrates my intentions for storylines I wish to develop further in coming drafts.
