Abstract
This project included a search, review of and retrieval of literature relevant to identification, diagnosis, and treatment of depressive symptoms in preschool age children. Diagnosis and treatment methods for young children are necessarily quite different from those for treating adolescents and adults because young children lack the cognitive development and skills necesssry to express and self-regulate variable emotional states. The recommendations included a measure for screening (Preschool Feelings Checklist) and a treatment protocol (Incredible Years).
