Abstract
Human papillomavirus (HPV) is the most common sexually transmitted infection in the world. Most people infected with HPV remain asymptomatic, but infections may result in several types of cancer. Three HPV vaccines are available with the recommended initiation of vaccination between 11–12 years, but the vaccine may be administered to females through 45 years old. Despite HPV vaccine efficacy, vaccination rates among college-age students remain low, particularly in certain geographical areas such as the Southeastern United States. This project aimed to increase HPV vaccination uptake among females between the ages of 18-26 in the Women’s Health Clinic through patient education handouts and provider announcement training techniques.
