Deans' Files

This collection contains the files of the first five Deans of the University of South Carolina School of Law, now known as the University of South Carolina Joseph F. Rice School of Law: Joseph Daniel Pope (1901-1908), Maurice Herndon Moore (1980-1910), John Peyre Thomas, Jr. (1910-1920), James Nelson Frierson (1920-1946), and Samuel Lander Prince (1946-1959). These files are housed in archive cartons in boxes 1 through 5 of the larger collection of Deans’ Files called the Deans’ Files and Administrative Records. Each dean’s files contain subject files including correspondence, pamphlets, and School of Law records in folders arranged alphabetically. There is a guide to each dean’s files to help researchers locate specific papers with the collections.
