Interviewer Name
Sarah Bickford
Context for Interview
The interview was a part of an assignment for the English 468 Studies in Writing/Oral History class. The assignment was focused on interviewing veterans to see how they adjusted to being a civilian in school again.
Brief Description of Interview
The interview started with Emery describing his childhood and his choice to go to college before joining the military. After two years and a ruined GPA, Emery decided to join the military. His time in the military was not what he expected it to be, and though he met his wife and enjoyed his work, there were too many mix-ups and inconveniences to make him stay beyond his required five years. After getting out Emery worked with a wonderful company, traveling around replacing mechanical components. After his wife got pregnant, they decided that he would quit that job and they would move closer to her family in Georgia. Now they both attend college and work part time to support themselves and their daughter.
