• Artificial intelligence (AI) presents both significant challenges and important opportunities in higher education.

• There is little doubt that AI offers meaningful benefits by supporting learning and helping students develop practical knowledge and skills. However, the rapidly expanding capabilities of AI, along with concerns about its use in academic work, have made many faculty members hesitant to integrate it into their courses. As a result, some instructors have adopted restrictive classroom policies.

• Rather than focusing primarily on prohibition or reluctance, educators should explore meaningful ways to integrate AI into teaching and learning. This approach can:

º Allow faculty to expand their teaching capabilities by identifying practical benefits of AI,

º Teach students how to use AI in meaningful ways, and

º Help students understand how AI can support both their academic development and future career preparation.

• In today’s digital environment, many students have shorter attention spans. Incorporating interactive and engaging learning activities can motivate students to participate more actively in class.

• The project incorporated into my Retail Promotion course illustrates how artificial intelligence can be integrated into classroom learning in meaningful and practical ways.
