• Artificial intelligence (AI) is rapidly transforming clinical care, biomedical research, and healthcare systems.
• Effective integration of AI in healthcare requires AI literacy, critical evaluation skills, and ethical awareness among healthcare professionals.
• However, structured AI education remains limited within many medical and biomedical training programs.
• National organizations, including the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC), have emphasized the need for AI competencies in education.
• The University of South Carolina School of Medicine Columbia (USC SOMC) developed a coordinated institutional initiative to address this educational gap.
