Article

Abstract

The prevalence of hypertension in Black women (57.6%) is among the highest in the world. Many of those who identify as Black do not readily adhere to prescribed antihypertensive medications nor persist with long-term therapy. This qualitative study describes self-reported approaches used by Black women with consistent adherence and persistence to medication-taking for BP control.
