Abstract

In partnership with the McKissick Museum at the University of South Carolina, The Humanities Council SC created an educational companion booklet, Key Ingredients: South Carolina by Food, to go with the tour of the Smithsonian exhibit, Key Ingredients: America By Food, in South Carolina. The booklet promotes the five small community museums that hosted the exhibit, as well as offering informative articles about our rich South Carolina food heritage written by scholars from across the state, including Amanda Dew Manning, Stephen Criswell, and Will Moreau Goins. The booklet was compiled by scholar Saddler Taylor, Curator of Research and Folklife at the McKissick Museum. The exhibit toured the Palmetto State from June 2008 - May 2009 and was seen by more than 50,000 South Carolina residents.
