Abstract
Stephen Heller composed a number of piano pieces, most of which are solo works. These pieces are rarely studied, partly because an overall shortage of audio and print publications of his music persists today. This document provides an examination of the collection of character pieces Nuits Blanches (Blumen-, Frucht- und Dornenstücke) by Heller. It includes a study of his compositional style and significance as a composer of the Romantic period. The goal of this study is to stimulate significant interest in Heller's works and to provide new information to the musical community.
