Abstract
How Far is Home is a thematically linked novella and short story collection that explores the different meanings of identity and home, whether a cramped apartment in New York City, a roadside stand in Maui, or a childhood memory of the South.
The centerpiece of the collection is the novella, Little City, which takes up these themes explicitly--the two main characters are real estate agents in Manhattan. The novella also centers on the development of the High Line in the Meatpacking District, before the railroad was turned into a public park.
