Abstract
Surveys the life and writing of the Scottish poet Gavin Turnbull (1765-1816), giving the first account of his later career as an actor and poet in Charleston, South Carolina, in Virginia, and in Georgi, and identifying and excerpting a number of previously-unknown poems that Turnbull published in Charleston newspapers.
