Abstract

Instagram and YouTube are popular platforms where people create content to earn revenue. Many believe that becoming an influencer is an easy way to make a living through ads, sponsorships, and brand deals. However, in reality, most content creators struggle to earn a stable income. This study looks at the challenges of making revenue on Instagram and YouTube, average earnings of influencers, and how expectations differ from reality.

This study explores: What are the challenges of generating revenue on Instagram and YouTube, and how will you gather this data? Research suggests that only a small percentage of content creators make enough revenue to support themselves. Success depends on engagement, content quality, platform algorithms, and brand partnerships.

Why is this research important?

1) It counters popular beliefs about influencers and their earning potential.

It provides a realistic view of how difficult it is to make a full-time living on platforms like Instagram and YouTube, helping to correct misconceptions about influencer success.

2) It explains the strategies needed for success and the duration to achieve it.

Success as an influencer doesn’t happen overnight. This research highlights the key factors such as audience engagement, high-quality content, consistency, and understanding platform algorithms. It also emphasizes that building a strong online presence takes time, effort, and adaptability, helping aspiring influencers set realistic expectations.

3 ) It also explores the reasons why some influencers thrive while others struggle.

Not all influencers achieve financial success, and this study examines the reasons behind that. By understanding these differences, content creators can learn what works, what doesn’t, and how they can improve their chances of success in a competitive digital landscape.
