Abstract

This collection of fiction includes five short stories and one novella, all centered around themes of magical realism. These stories seek to examine the way in which small features of strangeness or wonder play out and affect the surrounding, otherwise normal and commonplace, world. They seek, also, to explore the definition of the term 'magical realism,' and to push the limits of what that phrase may mean in terms of fiction and in short stories. Ultimately, the goal of these pieces is to present the reader with something unusual, and then to demonstrate how that unusual feature exists or clashes with the surrounding environment.
