Abstract

Sifting is a solo show about a woman searching for an understanding about her life and the things that make her the woman she is. It can be thought of as a self discovery or coming of age story as long as it does not simplify the magnitude of such a task. As the woman gets ready for an important event, she begins to shift back and forth between memories in her past. Sometimes she speaks directly to the audience and sometimes she is alone or speaking to someone not visible to the audience. All characters in the script are played by one actress.

The DVD is the performance of the script and the remainder of this document describes the process of creating, rehearsing, and performing the solo show.
